What Wacky Holiday is May 12th?

Day 3; it is 5 days before “opening” this blog officially and I’m getting some interest. I still need to add a banner and “spruce” things up a bit and will do so when I have time to be in front of my desktop computer.

This blog will highlight wacky holidays yes, but also I will mention things that happened on this date and also birthdays of famous and not so famous people. I will tell you here that there is no way I could mention every wacky holiday for each day or everyone’s birthday; so sound off in the comments if I didn’t mention someone or a holiday and return next year at the same time to see if I take your suggestion! I might even mention a certain celebration being held somewhere.

There was an Old Man of Nantucket
Who kept all his cash in a bucket.
His daughter, called Nan,
Ran away with a man,
And as for the bucket, Nantucket.

Today is National Limerick Day!
Twimericks: The Book of Tongue-Twisting Limericks
A Little Book of Limericks: Funny Rhymes for all the Family
Something Sure Smells Around Here: Limericks (Poetry Adventures)

This isn’t “wacky” but serious:
Welcome to the home for May 12th International Awareness Day information. May 12th has been designated as International Awareness Day for Chronic Immunological and Neurological Diseases (CIND) since 1992. The CIND illnesses include Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME), Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), Fibromyalgia (FM), Gulf War Syndrome (GWS) and Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS).

International Nurses Day
In 1953 Dorothy Sutherland, an official with the U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare, proposed that President Dwight D. Eisenhower proclaim a "Nurses' Day"; he did not approve it.
In January 1974, 12 May was chosen to celebrate the day as it is the anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, who is widely considered the founder of modern nursing.[citation needed] Each year, ICN prepares and distributes the International Nurses' Day Kit.[citation needed] The kit contains educational and public information materials, for use by nurses everywhere.
So this blog is shaping up a bit. If you want to check in every once in awhile, please do so or "follow by email" not miss a thing!

Your comments are valuable (especially now while I'm "building" this).

Make it a great day!
Ter Scott!
