“Always Wacky;
Sometimes Serious” Print This Page
Wednesday, May 18th,
2016
139 days have lapsed and
there are 227 days left.
What’s Wacky Today?
Today is “No Dirty Dishes” and “Visit your Relatives” Day. With
everyone’s busy schedules it may be hard to do both; especially in the middle
of the week. Maybe we could eat using paper plates or fast today. If we knew
ahead of time (with the “plan ahead” section on this site, you’ll not have any
excuse in the future) we could have planned to take the day or week off and
visit our relatives. Well, let’s just do the best we can; maybe just “visit”
with a call or text!
What Wacky happened
on this date in the past?
On this date in 1804, Napoleon Bonaparte became the Emperor
of France.
In 1860 Abraham Lincoln is nominated for president.
1917 has the U.S. Congress passing the Selective Service act
which called up soldiers to fight World War 1. And, in 1980 Mount Helens erupts
3 times in 24 hours.
Who has a birthday
today?
1897 Frank Capra, Film Director know especially for “It’s AWonderful Life”.
1911 Joseph Vernon “Big Joe” Turner, Blues Singer.
1952 George Strait, Country Singer.
What’s wacky one
month out.
June 18th: There are
lots of things being celebrated on this day so plan ahead to take advantage of
all. First it’s “Panic” and “Picnic” Day; maybe that’s just a typo; come back
on the 18th to find out; it’s also Sushi Day and perhaps that’s why
there’s panic at the picnic? (Hmm, could this be the next title of a slasher
movie? Hope not; I don’t like slasher movies but maybe this one will have to do
with watermelons). And it’s also National Hollerin’ Day (OK, now we know for
sure panicing at a picnic with sushi is indeed the next slasher movie).
Finally, it’s also National Splurge Day so you can spend your last cent on
anything and everything and not feel guilty; at least until the next day. If
you think there is a lot to celebrate on the 18th of June you’d be
right but that’s OK because it’s also National Juggler’s Day.
JUNE is: Aquarium Month, Candy Month, Dairy Month, Accordian
Awareness Month, Adopt a Cat Month, Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Month, Rose
Month and Turkey Lovers Month.
What’s wacky two
months out.
July 18th: National Caviar Day; you have two
months to acquire a taste for this.
July is National Blueberry Month, National Anti-Boredom
Month, Unlucky Month (for Weddings), Cell Phone Courtesy Month, Hot Dog Month,
and National Ice Cream Month.
What’s wacky three
months out.
August 18th: Bad Poetry Day; I guess we all have
to start somewhere, right?
AUGUST is: Admit You’re Happy, Family Fun, National Catfish,
National Eye, National Golf, Peach, Romance Awareness, Water Quality and
National Picnic Month.
This week is: National Police Week
QUOTE OF THE DAY:
“No man is a failure who has friends” Mark Twain.
Go forth and make friends!
Make it a “wacky” day!
Ter Scott!
