“Always Wacky;
Sometimes Serious”
Sunday, May 21st,
2016
143 days have lapsed and there are 223 days left.
What’s Wacky Today?
Today is Buy a Musical Instrument Day and World Goth Day. I
hope that when someone honors today and buys a musical instrument that he or
she will take lessons and learn to play it! Instruments look great on the shelf
but are meant to be played. Personally, I’m not sure what the whole idea about
the Goth movement is all about but today would be a good day to do so if you
are so inclined.
What Wacky happened
on this date in the past?
The Lewis and Clark Expedition began and departed from St.
Charles, Missouri on this date in 1804. In 1908, the Wright Brothers registered
for a U.S. patent for their flying machine. 1939 brought Hitler and Mussolini
together to sign what they called the “Pact of Steel”. Mister Roger’sNeighborhood premiered on this date in 1967.
1987 the baseball player Pete Rose passed Hank Aaron’s National League’s
running score record. 1992, after a 30 year run, The Tonight Show’s JohnnyCarson had his final appearance.
Who has a birthday
today?
1813 Richard Wagner, German composer
1844 Mary Cassatt, impressionist painter
1859 Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, author, creator of Sherlock Holmes series
1907 Sir Laurence Olivier, actor
If you were born today, you are probably a hard worker and
also like to be fit and work out. You are not really motivated by making money
and you like to be in control of things.
