Arnold Schwarzenegger posted a video where a massive elephant blocks his path and charges at his vehicle.

Sadly, because of some mistreatments and/or complaints by those who think they are doing the right thing, most people will not see this magnificent creature except with videos like this one; unless they can afford a safari hunt as they have banned elephants from zoos and circuses.

What’s Wacky Today?

Today is Dare Day and Flip a Coin Day and, I Dare You to Flip a Coin Day; just kidding. Dares can be dangerous or they can help people change their life for the better hopefully if the “dare” is for something that is really a motivation; like “I dare you to ask her out on a date” or “I dare you to ask for a raise”. We just need to be sensible about things. For the other holiday today, I actually have a coin flip app on my phone to help me make choices. I don’t often use it but when I do I usually do 2 out of 3 and use it as a way of “divine direction” when I need to trust in something outside myself; God.

What Wacky happened on this date in the past?

In 1638, what was called the “Great Earthquake of Plymouth” happened and is now considered the greatest earthquake of the 17th century of the U.S. colonies. In 1774 the British government orders the port of Boston closed. U.S. congressional act on administering oaths becomes law in 1789; no one knows exactly when this came to have little real meaning as it seems to today.

Kentucky becomes the 15th state in 1792 and four years later Tennessee becomes the 16^th U.S. state. “Don’t give up the ship!” was yelled out by American navy captain James Lawrence when the Chesapeake vessel was in a fierce battle against the British in 1812. In 1862 General Robert E. Lee assumed command of the Confederate army. It may be hard to find pictures of this as those who want to change history have outlawed the Confederate flag from being displayed just about anywhere.

Thomas Edison is granted his first patent - for an electrical vote recorder in 1869. Although his vote recorder was a failure and was never used, we continue to invent new ways to create the illusion that there is no voter fraud. In 1877 U.S. troops were authorized to pursue bandits into Mexico contrasting with today’s law officers not being allowed to pursue illegal aliens within our U.S. borders.

In Oklahoma in 1921, a race riot erupts in Tulsa, and sadly results in the deaths of 85. Sadly still today, we have riots in communities instead of peaceful protests which are allowed by our constitution. In 1925 Lou Gehrig begins his record of 2,130 consecutive major-league games; this fact always needs to be bigger than,  and offer hope to those with, the dreaded disease associated with his name. Don Bowden becomes the first American to run a four-minute mile in 1957; after Roger Bannister of Britain did this three years earlier.

The use of performance-enhancing drugs is made illegal in bicycle racing in the year 1965. In 1978 the U.S. reports finding wiretaps in the American embassy in Moscow; the precursor to today’s hacking into official emails.
