June 1st is Global Day of Parents. Share your ways of appreciating your parents and children here.

HAPPY GLOBAL DAY OF PARENTS!

Although this holiday was created by the United Nations to celebrate parents (I'm not a fan of many things the UN has done and stands for), I think parents deserve recognition everyday, so I'll take it!

You probably don't need any ideas on how to celebrate being a great parent, but here are a few.

Show appreciation for your parents and parents show appreciation to your kids; done.

Here are some interesting statistics about parents…

Millennial dads are investing three fold the amount of energy with their children as their own dads did.

Youngsters who debate with their folks may grow up to be effective in life as they advocate for themselves as grown-ups.

One study states that 91% of guardians said that being a parent was their most greatest fullfilment, while 73% said it was their most greatest test.

Another study shows that somewhere around half of Gen X and Millennial guardians are deciding to be more sure, more present and friendlier than their own folks were.

Be sure to share your thoughts below as to how you appreciate your parents and your kids.

My son’s birthday is on June 2nd, so to me that’s a worldwide holiday! And that gives me an idea. You probably have kids yourself or nieces and nephews. If not, you know of someone from school, your next door neighbor who always crosses your lawn to shortcut his or her trip to and from school, church or wherever. My point is, you can honor this person or persons as your own personal “holiday”. Create a “Son Day” or “Daughter Day” or whatever.  “It’s my son’s birthday and he’s chosen everything in the store to be on sale; for one day only”. If you can’t think of anything, ask your son!

Today is also National Bubba Day. Today is the day to honor anybody named or called Bubba. Calling somebody Bubba can be positive as with an affectionate nickname; or on occasion not so affectionate. Either way, to fit the bill and to be regarded today, your name can be officially, or casually "Bubba"; but all in good fun for sure. Take on the name "Bubba" for simply the day, or longer assuming you like it. In marketing you could give a discount for everyone coming into your place or on your website that has the name Bubba. You could create one of those standup paintings with the faces cut out titled “Bubba for a day” and take pictures.

National Rocky Road Day is all about eating ice cream...... explicitly Rocky Road.

Invite people into your store to make their own Rocky Road Ice Cream. Provide nuts (almonds and/or pecans), mini marshmallows, and chunks of semisweet chocolate in prepacked serving sizes for people to add to vanilla ice cream. Promote this for only a set time at your place of business. Hand out imprinted ice-cream scoops (one to a family) so they’ll remember this day (and your business) every time they dish up ice cream at home.
